Mark Richard Hamill (born September 25, 1951) is an American actor, writer, producer, and director. He is best known for portraying the hero Luke Skywalker in Star Wars Original Trilogy (1977-1983) and reprised the role in the sequel trilogy films Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens (2015), Star Wars: The Last Jedi (2017), and Star Wars: Episode IX.
